MEET YOUR Coaches
Julie Carwile, NBCT & Shannon Stone, PhD
Co-Founders, Two Chicks & Arithmetic
We are a couple of elementary educators who have a passion for teaching conceptual understanding of math. We crossed paths five years ago at a small urban school in the outskirts of Louisville, KY. Julie served as an Educational Recovery Specialist for the Department of Education and Shannon was the academic coach of that building. Instantly connected, Shannon joined the Department of Education team, and our work continued as we supported the lowest performing schools in the state of Kentucky. Together we worked with schools in developing their math skills using manipulatives in teaching and in other conceptual understanding strategies for students. Eventually, we helped develop the math support team for our Educational Recovery staff, and provided professional development to support their understanding of quality mathematics teaching.
